Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do to make an RV rental reservation?

Making an RV Rental reservation is simple to do. You can either make your reservation online or you can call our office and we would be happy to assist you in completing the reservation. You will need to have the following information available when making your reservation.

1. The dates of your trip. (June through August is a 5-night minimum)

2. What city you want to pick up the RV in.

3. Which RV you are interested in. (There may be a few different size units that would accommodate your party based on beds and seat belts.)

4. Your VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover card and driver’s license. An advance payment of 50% of the base reservation (with a $400 minimum) is required at the time of reservation to secure an RV for your trip.

What is your cancellation policy?

Reservations may be canceled with a full refund if done so within 7 days of making the reservation. After the first 7 days of making the reservation, the advance payment becomes non-refundable. If the trip needs to be canceled after the first 7 days of making the reservation and 14 days before the scheduled trip, the advance payment can be used as a credit towards a future trip with Bish’s RV. Cancellations made within 14 days of your departure date are only credited if the unit is booked again.

If you feel there is a possibility of cancellation, we suggest purchasing travel insurance from a third-party provider. Travel insurance can provide you coverage for medical expenses, trip cancellation/interruption, baggage damage, medical evacuation, and much more. It can provide coverage for airfare, campground reservations, or any advance payments you make with tours or activities. The cost is very reasonable and gives you peace of mind when traveling.

All refunds will be provided as a credit to the credit card used at the time of purchase within five (5) business days of the confirmed cancellation. We will send an email confirming the cancellation and the status of the advance payment.

What is the security deposit?

The security deposit is required at the time of departure and is used to cover any additional expenses over the estimated trip costs. This deposit is used to cover such costs as additional miles, refueling, and damage. The amount of the deposit will vary depending on the level of insurance you select. The security deposit is an authorization on a credit card. This does not charge the card and will not show up on your statement, but it does place a hold on the funds preventing you from using the amount. For specifics on the amount of the security deposit and insurance options, see the question “What Kind of Insurance is on the Rental?” listed below.

Do you allow RV rentals for Burning Man?

Yes. We do allow responsible individuals to rent motorhomes and travel trailers for the Burning Man event. To reduce damage from the playa where the event takes place, a maintenance fee of $175 is charged to change the oil and filter on both the engine and generator. Additional cleaning fees will apply if the unit returns with playa on/in the RV. To prevent additional cleaning fees, please follow the recommendations listed on the burning man website or take advantage of a professional cleaning service before returning the RV.

When can I pick up and return my rental?

Pick Up: You can pick up your RV rental between 9:35 a.m. to 4:35 p.m. Monday through Saturday. An email with a link to our Expedited Check-Out form will be sent to you 2 weeks prior to your pick-up date. This form determines your pick-up time and additional equipment/services needed. Pick-up times are confirmed on a first-response basis.

Drop Off: Your scheduled drop off time mirrors your pickup (for example, if you pick up your RV at 11:30 a.m., your drop off time would be 11: 30 a.m. no the day of return). There is a $75 per hour fee for late drop offs.

(Pick-up and drop-off times are based on availability)

Who is eligible to drive the rental motorhome?

Any licensed, adult driver 25 years of age or older who is currently covered under an auto insurance policy is eligible to drive a motorhome. If you are using our policy, a nominal fee may apply to add additional drivers. Ask your Rental Agent for details.

What kind of insurance is on the rental?

Most personal automobile policies provide coverage for RV Rentals. Personal auto insurance often will provide the best coverage with the limits you are comfortable with and provide a low-security deposit of $500. Check with your agent to find out if your personal policy provides coverage.

If your personal auto policy does not provide coverage, there is basic insurance on the RV with a $2,000 deductible that is included at no charge.

If your policy does not provide insurance coverage for the RV, there are four options for you to choose from.

  • Basic Plan: $9.95 per day, $2,000 damage deposit. $2,000 deductible. Provides coverage for the RV. Does not provide liability coverage.
  • Value Plan: $24.95 per day, $1,000 damage deposit. $1,000 deductible. Provides state minimum liability requirements. Provides Loss of Use protection.
  • VIP PLUS: $49.95 per day, $500 damage deposit. $500 deductible. Provides state minimum liability requirements. Provides Loss of Use protection. Includes up to $250/day incidental expense protection associated with RV break-down. 100% of tire replacement, rock chip, and all windshields are covered.
  • Windshield and Tire Protection: $54.95/trip, you could also add the Windshield and Tire Protection which covers all damages and replacement for tires and windshield 100% for Class A and Class C for just $54.95 for your trip

The security deposit is an authorization only on a VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover at the time of pick-up. This does not charge the card but does confirm the funds and holds the amount during the duration of your trip. If you are using one of our options, you can decide which one at the counter when you are picking up your RV.

Am I allowed to tow anything with my RV rental?

Motorhomes are able to tow a 3,500-pound trailer. Towing with the motorhome requires prior permission. Please request to tow at the time you book your reservation, a $50.00 towing charge will apply. THE MOTORHOME PROVIDES NO COLLISION OR LIABILITY COVERAGE FOR DAMAGE TO THE TOWED OBJECT, OR FOR ANY THIRD PARTY INJURY CAUSED BY THE TOWED OBJECT.

What is required for towing a trailer?

The tow vehicle must have a Class III receiver, brake control, and a 7-way wiring plug in order to tow a travel trailer. The trailer tongue height is 18″-21″ off the ground and the trailer ball size will vary depending upon trailer size. Most of the trailers are a 2″5/16 ball. The tow vehicle needs to be appropriately rated for the weight of the trailer. Click here to better understand what your vehicle can tow. If you need a tow vehicle, you can rent them from our associates and partners listed on the Rental Fleet page. Bish’s RV also has brake controls for $75.00/trip. This equipment fits most vehicles. Contact us for more specific information.

Am I allowed to have pets?

Your pet is our guest too but please be responsible for cleaning up after your pet. We have an invisible pet policy and if we don’t know the pet was in the RV and no damage occurred, then no extra cleaning fees will be applied. An increased damage deposit and cleaning fee may apply for pet odor, hair, urine, feces, etc.

Is smoking allowed in the RVs?

Smoking is NOT allowed in our rental units. A minimum $500.00 deodorizing fee WILL apply for odor caused by smoking.

Are there restrictions as to where I can take my rental?

Motorhomes are limited for use on well-graded or paved roads. Trips into Mexico are not permitted. Also, travel through extreme desert areas, such as Death Valley, during hot periods is not permitted. If you have questions, call your vacation adviser.

Are there one-way rentals?

Yes. Rates are based on distance and vary depending on the time of year. Miles to return the RV to its point of origin is the responsibility of the customer. Call your Rental Agent for details and pricing for your drop-off location.

What is Pre-Paid Cleaning?

Bish’s RV offers a cleaning service for the return of your motorhome. For an optional fee of $99.00, we will do up to three hours of cleaning upon your return. Over the years, we have found most people do not have the facilities nor do they wish to cut their travel time short to perform this unpleasant task. Prepaid cleaning includes both inside and outside of the RV unit. So, let us do this for you!

What is Pre-Paid Dumping?

Unlike some other companies, for $48.00 we will dump, flush, and sanitize the RV holding tanks. Again, the lack of facilities and desire to perform this task has prompted us to offer this service. Our normal dumping charge is $75.00. Prepay and save!

Are there difference between a Class A and Class C motorhome?

We rent two different classes of motorhomes that are both self-contained. Class C motorhomes have a truck chassis on the front as well as a cabover bed. This class is the most economical and also has a greater variety of floorplans to fit your needs. Class A motorhomes are bus-style and have a flat front with a large windshield. They are built with higher ceilings providing a more luxurious ambiance. They also include larger tanks and hydraulic leveling systems.

What is Included in the Kitchen Kit?

The kitchen kit stocks the kitchen with the necessary items for six people. Included in the kitchen kit are; pots and pans, cooking utensils, casserole dish, pitcher, coffee maker, toaster, dish rack, six place settings including plates, saucers, cups glasses, and silverware. Also included are a new non-abrasive soft scrub, dish soap, salt, and pepper. If you have a special request such as a stovetop peculator, please ask. You never know what we may have in stock.

Can I ship personal items to you for our vacation?

Of course! Many of our out-of-town guests ship parcels to us before they arrive. Just ship it to yourself in the care of Bish’s RV at the address you are picking up from. We can also make sure your items are picked up when a call tag is provided.

Is there a fuel policy?

Our fuel policy is very simple. Fuel is marked at the time of delivery. If the fuel is less upon return, a $15.00 fuel fee will be added to the actual costs to return the fuel to its original level. Propane is available on-site and is full upon pick up and is charged only for the amount used.

What about the generator?

Motorhomes come with a generator so you can camp anywhere you want, with or without hook-ups. Generators are only needed when the RV is not plugged into shore power. The only items that require AC power are the overhead air conditioner, microwave, TV/DVD player, and any item you would plug into an AC wall outlet. Unlimited Generator usage can be rented for $9.95 per night.

What is your Privacy Policy?

At Bish’s RV, we respect and are committed to protecting your privacy. Your personally identifiable information may be collected when you visit our site. We also automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, cookie information, and the page(s) you visited. Your payment and personal information are always safe. Our Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read over the internet. We follow all information privacy requirements and regulations as set forth by state and federal law.

How long can I dry camp in an RV?

Dry camping means you are camping without any electricity, water, or sewer hook ups.

The length of time an RV can go before it needs to be charged or dumped will vary depending on the RV. Batteries can go dead as quickly as 48-hours depending on the use. On-board water will vary depending on consumption. Showers take the most water. Holding tanks also vary based on use. On average, motorhomes may go 3-5 days. Trailers about the same if you have an alternative power source to charge the batteries.

What AMPs do I need for electric hookups?

Many campgrounds will have various options for electric hookups. All of our motorhomes and trailers need a 30 AMP hookup. If the campground only offers a 110v/15AMP (regular household outlet) then you can still use that to power everything except the overhead air conditioner with the adapter provided in every rental.

If you’re not sure what hookups your campground provides, RVparky.com is a great resource to find details about your destination(s).

Can I leave my car at the Bish's RV parking lot?

Due to restricted parking space, we unfortunately do not allow parking at our facilities. No overnight parking is allowed. All vehicles left overnight will be towed offsite.

Can I rent during the winter?

During the winter months, you can rent an RV. All RVs are winterized and a fee of $165 will be applied to all winter rentals to dewinterize the RV. Upon returning your RV, it will be inspected the same-day. If any freeze damage occurred during your rented time, you will be responsible for all parts and labor. No after hours or weekend drops off are permitted during the winter months.

How does the mileage work?

Please check out our mileage page for information about miles.

What are your prep fees?

We don’t charge prep fees! While other RV rental companies may charge a prep fee as much as $150, Bish’s RV does not charge this fee to our customers.
